Exhibits to be shown at walk, trot and canter, no ride judge.
British Ridden Heavy Horse Society Rules apply to this competition.
All ridden horses must be 4 years old or over.
Mare with a suckling foal born during the current season are not eligible to compete in the ridden class.
No ridden horse may be shown on a lead rein.
The judge may require that a horse which constitutes a danger leaves the ring; the judge’s decision is final.
Bandages, boots and protective pads are not allowed.
Shoeing should be of a traditional nature and indicative of the nature of its use. If bevel shoes are worn, screw in studs must be fitted.
Tail plaits and wool and flights optional but for Health & Safety reasons no standing wired flights.
A fall of horse or rider in any class will result in disqualification.
The rider must not remount in the ring.
Anyone competing on a horse must wear a hard hat – a skull cap or hat according to the current BSI or European Standard must be worn by all competitors in order to minimise risk of head injury. It is mandatory for competitors under the age of 18 to wear such skull caps or hats. Skull caps must have a navy blue, brown or black cover.

N.B. All exhibitors except geldings to be entered in or eligible
for entry in the Shire Stud Book or Grade Registers ‘A&B’, geldings must be the progeny of a shire stallion, name of sire to be stated on entry form.
Hope Show is a qualifier for the foal, brood mare, yearling and young handler accumulator classes, to paid up members of the Derbyshire Shire Association. Points to be awarded in classes SH 3, 4, 5, 7 and 12: 1st = 3 points; 2nd = 2 points; 3rd = 1
point.
The winner of the Shire Horse Society Silver Spoon Award must be a member of the Shire Horse Society. No animal is eligible to take more than one Silver Spoon during any one year. The National Shire Horse Show being the exception. The Shire Horse Society reserves the right in offering spoons, to award them only to persons approved by the Shire Horse Society

Entry fee: £5 for classes SH1 – 9 and 14, Young Handler
Class FREE. Appearance money £40 per animal, to be collected in
the grand parade.
Exhibition Rules
• All entry fees must be made through www.myridinglife.com
• All entries must be made by Saturday 18th August 2024
• Horses that have been bred or owned by the judge may
not be exhibited.
• All horses must be registered to the current owner
through the Shire Horse Society.
• Exhibitors must be members of the Shire Horse Society to
take part in the Silver Spoon competition.
• No late or telephone entries allowed.
• Hard hats to the current British Standard MUST be worn at all
times whilst mounted on the showground.
• All equines attending the showground must have up to date
Equine Influenza vaccinations, the organisers reserve the right to
check vaccination passports at any time.
• The exercising of horses/ponies will only be allowed in the
designated collecting rings. No exercising may occur in the box
park.
• All exhibitors and competitors must be covered by a Public Liability
Policy including show use. The Society reserves the right to require
any exhibitor to produce proof that a suitable Policy is in force.
• The decision of the judges will be regarded as final.
• All timings are approximate and subject to change, and it is the
competitor’s responsibility to present themselves in the ring for the
start of their class.
• The committee reserve the right to amalgamate, divide or cancel
any classes and refuse entry to, or remove from any class any
person(s); (a) that behave in an irresponsible or offensive manner
or (b) whose horse/pony they consider unfit to compete.
• Each competitor will be issued with an entry pass and one other
pass into the show. Anyone else accompanying the competitor
must purchase an entry ticket in advance. Failure to do so may
result in you being refused entry to the lorry park.
• ALL competitors take part at their own risk. The organisers do not
hold themselves responsible for any accident that might occur to
horse, rider, property or spectator.
