All riders are required to read and understand our safety policy before attending the HFS farm rides. Entries are only taken on this basis. If you’re booking for a group please ensure that all riders have read and understood the following.
It is mandatory for all riders to always wear a protective helmet when mounted with a chinstrap fastened and adjusted to prevent movement of the hat in the event of a fall. This rule defines the quality of manufacture that is required. It is strongly recommended that second hand hats are not purchased. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure these standards are met. If you are intending to jump on the ride your hat will need to be a skull cap (not a fixed peak). ALL hats must meet the following current standards.
Body protectors are compulsory for those are jumping however, we strongly recommend always wearing a body protector when mounted. If a body protector is worn for any Home Farm Show activity it must meet BETA 2018 Level 3 standard (blue and black label).
FOOTWEAR - Only standard riding or jodhpur boots with a well-defined square cut heel may be worn. Tassels and fringes are not allowed. No other footwear will be permitted, including wellington boots, yard boots, “muckers” or trainers. Boots with interlocking treads are not permitted. Stirrups should be of the correct size to suit the rider’s boots.
ACTION AFTER A FALL If any rider or spectator has a fall or sustains an injury anywhere on the HFS ride, they must seek out a member of staff. In addition, if you require assistance, you must call the emergency number (which will be given to you before setting off) or seek out the nearest marshal.
HEALTH AND SAFETY Organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the Health and Safety of everyone present.
