Starting Times:
Warm up from 5.30pm. Classes will start no earlier than 6pm and progress into the evening depending upon entries. Times will be available after midday on Tuesday prior to the competition from the competition start time’s page of our website. Please remember a bridle or saddle pad number is required on both sides of the horse.

Late entries will be accepted if space is available after the close of entries at £3.00 extra per entry. The competition and warm-up will be held on a surface. If entry levels are high warm-up will take place on our outdoor, allweather floodlit arena and two competition arenas will be run indoors. If entry levels are low, warm-up will take place indoors at one end of the arena with the competition arena at the other end. All classes are open to any combination of horse and rider. Payment Details & Event Fees
Entries in advance only. You can enter using a Secure Online Entry System Payment is secure and it goes directly to Merrist Wood. You will receive an email confirmation of your class entry and payment.
Entry fee for all classes: £17.00 Late entries will be accepted if space is available after the close of entries at £3.00 extra per entry.
Rosettes will be awarded from first to sixth place in all classes dependant of entry numbers.
All refunds incur a £1.50 admin charge. No refunds after close of entries. The Booking Fee is non-refundable.
1. Any withdrawals must be made before the close of entries. Any competitor withdrawing after the closing date will not be subject to a refund, or transfer, unless accompanied by a valid Vet or Doctor’s certificate. 2. All Dressage competitions shall run under British Dressage rules, unless stated otherwise, and all Show Jumping shall run under British Showjumping rules, unless stated otherwise. Horses should be vaccinated in accordance with the relevant governing body. 3. In the event of a Zoonotic diseases (e.g Strangles, Equine Influenza, Herpes Virus or any other disease or condition) outbreak in the local area then the competitor/hirer must not attend the venue. 4. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry without reason, to cancel or alter any class, section or competition as they see fit without giving reason. Classes may be split if entries warrant. 5. The judge’s and organisers decision is final. Any objections must be lodged with the Secretary within 15 minutes of the incident and supported by a £10 deposit, which will be returned if the objection is upheld. 6. Activate Learning (Merrist Wood Campus), the organisers, their representatives or helpers do not accept liability for injury, damage or loss suffered by spectators, competitors, their horses, grooms, friends, vehicles or property, however caused, and under any circumstances, except proven negligence of the organisers. Claims for negligence against the organisers must be submitted in writing on the day of competition. 7. Practice jumps must be jumped in the correct direction, white flag to the rider’s left hand side and the red flag to the rider’s right hand side. 8. Correct riding attire must be worn by all competitors and those attending clinics and arena hire. Current BSI Kite marked standard hard hats must be worn at all times whilst mounted. 9. The welfare and health of all horses attending any show at Merrist Wood arena is paramount. Any horse deemed to be sick or injured in anyway will be immediately eliminated and the owner shall be asked to remove the horse from the premises. 10. In the event of any event being cancelled, the organisers shall retain an administration fee of £1.50 from each entry. It is the competitors responsibility to contact the show secretary on 01483 88 41 47 or 07815 522771 to confirm if the event has been cancelled. 11. Lunging is not permitted in any of the arenas at any time. 12. Entries will be limited and are taken on a first come, first served basis. Waiting lists will be kept for all over subscribed classes. Classes my start early and in some cases will run into the evening. 13. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and remain the responsibility of the owner. If any dog is found loose on the Merrist Wood Campus unattended, then appropriate action will be taken. Dogs are not allowed in the viewing gallery. 14. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. It is the responsibility of all competitors to ensure that the grounds of Merrist Wood arena are kept clean and little put in the bins provided. Any competitor or anyone attending with a competitor found to be disobeying these rules will be asked to leave the campus immediately.
