Rules and Conditions
1. Classes will be run under Pony Club Show Jumping Rules 2024
2. As in all Pony Club Show Jumping excessive use of the whip, including repeated slap-ping down the shoulder, is prohibited. The whip may be used (including slapping down the shoulder) a maximum of three times during any round. Excessive use of the whip will result in elimination at the judges discretion.
3. Save for the death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Organisers, or any-one for whom they are in law responsible, neither the Event Organiser or The Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis.
4. Health and Safety: Southdown Hunt East Pony Club, the organiser of the event, has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all officials and stewards.
5. The organisers reserve the right to cancel, add to or amend any class as they see fit, and to refuse entry without stating a reason.
6. In the unfortunate event of cancellation of the show £4.00 per entry will be retained.
7. In the case of withdrawal by the competitor refunds will only be available on production of the Dr’s or Vet’s certificate—£10.00 will be retained for administration costs
8. The decision of the judge is final. Objection must be lodged with the secretary within 30 mins of the class concerned accompanied by a deposit of £10 cash, forfeited if overruled.
9. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
10. No horse under the age of 5 years may enter a ridden class.
11. All movement of horses on the show ground MUST BE AT A WALK except in the designated practice and competition areas. Any person found not doing so will be asked to leave the show grounds.
12. All competitors must pass left to left in the warm up area and jump practice fences with the red wing on the right
13. Hats must be worn when mounted and be of standard PAS 015:2011 with BSI kitemark, AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards, VG1 with BSI Kitemark SNELL E2016 &2021 with label and number.
14. Please clear up all droppings, hay and litter. No haynets tied outside of vehicles
15. No horse to be left unattended whilst tied up to lorry/trailer
16. All horses must be fully vaccinated and to have received a booster within 6 months + 21 days of the competition and a clear 7 days between receiving a booster and day of competing
Rules for Team Show Jumping:
1. Teams to consist of three or four members of the same Branch of the Pony Club. Best three scores will count.
2. Combinations may jump in 2 classes but no more than one height higher
3. No competitor may ride two horses in the same team.
4. All team members are automatically entered for the individual competition.
5. All classes Single phase: Course is in two sections with second section timed.
