Competition forms part of our Summer Working Equitation League. You may enter this show alone or in combination with other WE League events.
Competition will be composed of:
· Dressage test in a 20x40m arena
· Guided Ease of Handling (obstacles) course walk with Suzanne Dipple
· A judged Ease of Handling (obstacles) round - the completion of each obstacle will be scored out of 10 and an overall course score out of 10 will be given.
· Timed speed round around the same course of obstacles.
You will receive score sheets for your Dressage tests, Ease of Handling tests and a time for your speed round. You will also receive a rosette if you’re placed and points will be recorded from each competition and accumulated through the summer for the overall league placings for which there will be rosettes, sashes and prizes in kind for each level up to 6th place.
The classes will be:
Walk and Trot – Dressage test is of similar level to BD Intro, Ease of Handling will not include the Sideways pole, you only have to go around the barrels once each way in trot, all obstacles can be completed at either walk or trot. You should expect to see the course including most other obstacles such as the gate, the bridge, the straight slalom, the straight rein back bell, the vara and bull line.
Novice- Dressage test is of similar level to BD Prelim/Novice but it also includes a rein back, Ease Of Handling will include a sideways pole, you will have to go around the barrels twice each way, once in trot and once in canter. Obstacles can be completed in Walk, Trot or Canter, transitions to trot and canter between obstacles should be shown.
Inter B – Dressage test is of similar level to BD Elementary/Medium, Ease of Handling may include L-shaped rein back bell, L-shaped Sideways pole, parallel sideways pole, Parrallel slalom. Only go round the barrels once each way but in canter with either a simple change or a flying change in the middle. Parallel slalom can have either simple changes or flying changes. Straight slalom can still be ridden in trot. Should show walk to canter transitions up and down before and after obstacles.
· Riding hats are compulsory, body protectors are optional. Standard competition wear.
· Any English tack can be worn. Any bits can be worn and bit less is allowed.
· Horses can wear protective boots for both obstacle rounds. Whips and spurs are permitted.
