Show Information

Avon Centre's Unaffiliated Arena Eventing Competition is the perfect place to take your horse show jumping. With fantastic facilities and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere it suits all ages and abilities, whether you are looking to take your horse out to increase their, and your own confidence, or you need somewhere to go to school round an inviting course of jumps.

Entries are £14 per class, full Terms & Conditions are below.

Entries will be closing at 2 PM on the Friday prior to the event. Arena Eventing is an exciting ‘derby style’ competition that starts with 5 Show Jumps, followed by 6 challenges over portable Cross Country fences.

Competitors will transition directly from the Show Jumping phase into the Cross Country section, aiming to get as close to the optimum time as possible.

 

PENALTIES WILL BE AS FOLLOWS: SHOW JUMPING | CROSS COUNTRY

First disobedience: SJ = 4 penalties | XC = 20 penalties

Second disobedience: SJ = 8 penalties | XC = 40 penalties

Third disobedience: SJ = Elimination | XC = Elimination

Knock down of obstacle: SJ = 4 penalties | XC = N/A

Knock down of pole: SJ = 4 penalties | XC = N/A

Fall of horse: SJ = Elimination | XC = Elimination

First fall of rider: SJ = Elimination | XC = Elimination

Every second over optimum time: SJ = 0.4 penalties | XC = 0.4 penalties

Exceeding time limit*: SJ = Elimination | XC = Elimination

Error of Course: SJ = Elimination | XC = Elimination

Retaking obstacle already jumped: SJ = Elimination | XC = Elimination

*Time allowed is twice the optimum time. Optimum time will not be published, but is calculated on what would be the mpm of a forwards canter.

Payment Details & Event Fees

Entries must be received with fee of £11 per class the Sunday before each competition. Entries cannot be transferred or cancelled from this date. Entries are to be completed via MyRidingLife. If you have any questions regarding entries please contact the Centre by email: mojca@theavoncentre.org.uk

Arrival & Parking

We kindly ask that all entries be submitted in advance—please avoid arriving on the day without prior confirmation.

Practice Arena Etiquette

To ensure a smooth experience for everyone:

·         A maximum of 5 riders is permitted in the jumping warm-up area at any given time.

·         Please maintain a distance of five horse lengths from fellow competitors for everyone's safety.

·         We appreciate your cooperation; those not adhering to these guidelines may kindly be asked to leave.

 

The Competition

·         Only one competitor will be allowed in the ring at a time.

·         Classes will commence promptly as per the allocated schedule.

·         All competitions will follow a single-phase format.

·         After cooling down, riders are requested to return immediately to their designated parking area to untack.

·         Prize-giving ceremonies will take place at the end of each class. We encourage you to gather near the outdoor arena to receive your prize; results will be announced and posted online for your convenience.

·         Please collect your rosettes from the arena.

 

Venue

Enjoy takeaway service from the café during your visit.

 

Our toilets are equipped with running water, soap, and hand sanitiser for your comfort and hygiene.

A first aider will be on-site throughout the show, ready to assist when needed. Please remember to tidy up after your horse by picking up manure and hay from the parking area using your own equipment. Don’t forget to bring your own water for rinsing down and buckets!

 

As a reminder, horse riding does involve inherent risks, and by participating at TAC you acknowledge that you do so at your own risk, without relying on TAC or its staff for your personal safety or property. We have taken great care to maintain safe facilities, but your adherence to these terms is appreciated for everyone's well-being.

 

Terms and Conditions for Utilizing TAC's Facilities and Competitions

Welcome to TAC! We’re excited to have you here. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please take a moment to review our terms and conditions:

1. Competitions and Classes:

Our organizers may need to cancel or modify competitions or classes as necessary for reasons beyond our control. We appreciate your understanding.

2. Riding Safety:

For your safety, everyone on TAC's site—whether competing or not—must wear a riding hat at all times. Hats should meet one of the following standards: AII PAS 015: 1998, BS EN1384: 1997 (must be BSI Kite marked or SEI), or Snell E2001 with a chin strap fastened to ensure it stays in place.

3. Body Protectors:

A Level 3 body protector approved by the British Equestrian Trade Association (Beta) is required for cross-country riding, and it must be manufactured in 2000 or after. Please make sure it is appropriately labelled.

4. Judging and Instructions:

The judges’ decisions in all competitions are final. We encourage all competitors and visitors to follow the stewards’ instructions for a smooth event.

5. Supervision of Minors:

Children under the age of 12 must always be accompanied by an adult.

6. Waste Disposal:

To keep our grounds tidy, kindly dispose of all rubbish in the bins provided. Please do not empty lorries or trailers in the car park—let’s work together to keep TAC clean.

7. Unattended Horses:

For everyone’s safety, please do not leave any horse or pony unattended unless secured in a lorry or trailer attached to a vehicle.

8. Dogs:

We love having dogs on site! Please ensure they are kept on a lead at all times, and dispose of any waste in the bins provided.

9. No Smoking:

For the comfort of all our visitors, smoking is not allowed inside any TAC buildings.

10. Damage Reporting:

If you notice any damage to facilities, please report it to the office, and we’ll work together to address it.

11. Accident Reporting:

Your safety is our priority. Please report any accidents and complete an accident report at the TAC office.

12. Judging Decisions:

Remember, in all competitions, the judges’ decisions are final.

13. Photography:

We may capture moments through photography or filming during our events. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know.

Health and Safety 

At TAC, we’ve implemented all reasonable safety precautions for your protection. To keep everyone safe, we ask that you also observe all safety measures and follow the guidance of our organizers and officials.

Limit of Legal Liability

Competitors participate at their own risk. Apart from instances of death or personal injury due to negligence by TAC or its representatives, we ask that you acknowledge that we cannot accept claims for any injury, loss, or damage that may happen during your time here.
